No, this is not true. However the brackets that mount the footboards do touch before the edge of the footboards do.
Don't think so here. The boardshinged upand then the brackets hit, otherwise you can't hit the brackets without first hitting the boards.

Take a straight edge from the frame to the outer edge of the board and see for yourself.

No way will you hit the crash bar either on turns.

I have a 2007 Road King Classic. Im an average rider but am slowly advancing my slow speed riding skills. I heard that on the Road King that if while turing in a tight radius the front crash bars will will hit/scrape before the floor boards will. Does anyone have andy knowledge or better yet experience in this area?

You've got lots more lean left when the floorboards hit (first) before you have to worry about hard parts.

However, I suggest you take the Lee Parks Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic. You can virtually eliminate, or at least SERIOUSLY reduce scraping by utilizing the simple body position techniques taught in the class. Well worth the time and effort to attend one.

Bad:

One of my wifes girl friends does that everytime I give her a ride it drives me crazy. Turn left lean left, she just don't get it. However, to be honest I really don't care cause she's a hottie!

I laid mine down so far and longonce that thebracket lost about a 1/4" metal. I was just trying to hold the edge and not fade to the other side...last time I did that...went home for a change of shorts...scraping floor boards...i'm used to that...

You can raise the floorboards up about a 1/2" to 3/4", sounds like a lot but after a few miles you don't even notice it anymore.I did that when I put Soos 1" floorboard extender on my Glide, I didn't want to drag anymore thanI already do since then I havn't scraped any go figure

My boards have been are in the higher position and I still drag them around the ramps. Fun stuff. Although I'm grinding up the board mounts, the crash bar is well out of the way.

Sparky

Police course is not hard once you get how to do it. Gas, rear brake, clutch control. Very hard when you do not know the "tricks". However I would still drop a bike once or twice if I was to go through it again. Slow and low that is the tempo.

I took a refresher offered by the dealer (they do a package deal for PD who lease their bike through them) and a civilian was their. I was told he was a great customer of the dealer who had been asking one of the instructors for years. So to answer you question, yes but it's who you know. at least around here.

If you are able to take the course do it! You will be a much better rider. We duct taped fire hose to our crash bars to protect our bikes. Good thing we dropped the bikes more than a few times during the course. My wife hates that I took that course....I always hear no one else scrapes the floorboards when we ride with people. I told her we are not riding with any other motor cops. She does not think that is funny.

In Washington state you can sign up for a class that Washington State Patrol motor patrol conducts. It allows you to take a week long class that puts you through the same drills the state patrol go through on their bikes -- they even provide the bikes as they gurantee you will drop them. I've heard great feedback and results from that. Regarding floorboard scraping I do it all the time, on my third set in a couple of years, it's just the way I ride -- grew up racing moto-cross and if you weren't leaning you were going to slow in the turns - you can't win that way!! I would say take time to go to a few parking lots or industrial areas on the weekend and get really comfortable with you bike and how it handles. Set up some tight slow turns to try and work on breaking and clutching techniques -- you'll really learn how to better handle your bike and get a feel for it - it will make your ride more enjoyable and you'll feel more in sync with your bike. Have fun!

I can scrape the boards on my buddies SEEG while doing things that would barely put the pegs anywhere near the ground on my Deuce. The solution - if you can lean that hard, buy a softy or a dyna so that ya can...
