I am really close to buying V&H True Duals for my 05 RK Custom. I have read about predrilling a hole to remove the baffles easier. My question is I like my bike kinda loud. If I am correct the pipes come without the quiter baffles? Any problems with pipe bluing and how difficult is it to map with the V&H Fuelpak? I have SE stage 1. Any help would be appreciated!

City,
It's probably me, but I'm confused.....
What does the installation of True Dual headers have to do with what you do with your slip on mufflers???
I have the V&H True Dual headers with Rush slip ons (2 inch). Now if you bought a package deal and have V&H slip ons, then hopefully someone will chime in and give you the info you want regarding the V&H baffles.
As for the baffles, mine have a set screw/bolt that comes out easy to facillitate removal or replacement. Again, I'm not sure where you're coming from with the question unless you want to drill out the stock pipes.
The complete package does not come as one piece. You still get the headers and the slip ons. I had V&H duals with V&H classics on my 04 and I had run a Fuel Pak on that as well. It worked great for me and did not blue or anything. I changed the Fuel Pak out when I went with different cams because I couldn't use it, however I kept the exhaust. The baffles come out easy, but they were attached to the endcaps so you would have to remove them as one piece. I actually changed out my baffles with new baffles after a year cuz one started to rattle.
For ease of future mods....you may want to look at V&H true dual header pipes. At least then you are pretty much open to future muffler changes (which in all likelihood will happen). Easier (and cheaper) to swap mufflers in the future (if you aren't happy with the tone) instead of the whole system. I'm running dresser duals with Supertrapp (internal disc) slip-on mufflers....can be pretty much as loud (or quiet) as I want.
I have the big shots and you are correct you need to predrill a hole in the shield so you can remove or change the baffles in the future. Otherwise you have to take the heat shield off. The heatshield runs the whole length of the pipes and is 210 degrees, you never see the blueing. Can map easily with the fuelpak.
supposedly, they have changed that to where you can remove the baffle without taking off the heat shield (or so i've heard) unfortunately, mine are not that way. i changed out my stock baffles for the quiet baffles and did not drill a hole in the heat shield while i had them off. i wasn't planning on changing out baffles all the time. i like the sound of the quiet baffles better than the standard baffles, they have a deeper tone to them, and do not have the 'jake brake' sound on decel. i didn't care about the volume, didn't think the standard baffles were that loud, but i do like the tone of the quiets better. but they can still bark when you need them to.
