Default Converting To Andrews 26G Cams

I have a 2000 FLHTCI Bagger that I am looking to replace the stock chain drive cams and tensioners with a set of Andrews 26G’s gear drive cams. Currently the bikes just has the Harley Stage 1 high flow air cleaner and a set of DS slip on’s. When I did the air cleaner and slip on’s per the dealer tech’s recommendation I did the Screaming Eagle download module to the computer to adjust the EFI. I am looking at doing the camswap myself, would anyone know if I went with the Andrew’s 26G’s is it a radical enough change that I would be looking at another download for the EFI or even a tuning module like the Dynotech, or should I be good with the current SE download?

Being that you will be letting the engine breath deeper but your fuel intake is by computer controlled injector, you will need to make an adjustment in the amount of fuel too. That can only be done by another download or some kind of fuel management program.

Instead of wasting the $150 on a HD download that does nothing at all..................You should have bought either a PCIIIusb or equivalent in the first place.

Yes, the 26G cams will need more fuel.............so now you will have to buy a PC or SERT or something to add more fuel and adjust the timing.

You may not need a new tuner.

I put 26G's in my 2000RKC. It just had the SE air cleaner, Stage I download, and Samson slip ons. It ran great. It wasn't until I swapped on a pair of True Duals that I had to add a DFO to enrichen the fuel circuit.

It will run w/o an additional tuning device.

If you want it tuned properly so you can get the most from it, you will need an additional tuning device like PCIII, SERT, etc.

Phil, I'm about to upgrade my bike with 26G cams. I'm currently running the stage 1 download. Are you saying I should be able to run after putting in the new cams without any other fuel upgrade? I've got another PCIII (third in less than a year) to install, but only if I have to.

Please clarify.

Jim
