OLDSCHOOL thinking but I do understand grew up as an old schooler. but the new tenders are great leave it on all the time I even use mine in the summer just to keep the battery at full charge all the time. My last battery was 5 yrs old and It was still workin fine I just decided I better get a new one

I don't like to leave battery tender on all the time. My experience is that the batteries fail faster. I would just charge it once a month. But thats just my $.02.

It might be just me, but I find thebattery in the 07 Ultra, difficult to remove ... cable harness obstructs access to the battery terminal bolts. This being the case I'd rather leave the battery connected (and use a battery charger) if possible. Some people have reported connection problems when reconnecting their battery in the spring..... the solonoid clicks but the starter doesn't crank the engine. Although the terminal connection seemed tight, their was a 2-3 volt, voltage drop across the connection. Your point is well taken though, things don't seem to be getting easier (or cheaper).Regards.

Usually until they die....

Man i wanted to just leave it like that but most confuse my dry humor with just being an ***. Not a battery guru but i have had a ton of them. It's a crap-shoot. You could get a cheap battery that might outlast any pricey one or not. I go with the better quality batteries as the track record i have with them is pretty good but i have had a couple of good ones go bad in a month. Just exchanged them but not so easy OTR. That is a tough question to get a right answers to so just roll.

A Battery Tender \ intelligent \ Battery storage charger is designed to be left on all the time when the vehicle \ Battery is not in regular use. It does cycle the charge on the battery. It doesn't just sit and cook it all winter. The key is buying one desigend to just maintain the battery. It would not be a good idea to have a regular charger on it all winter. I have several in use on my collector cars and my bike. I uesed to replace batteries all the time and now get many years out of them as long as I use the tender. Check out the information at http://www.batteryweb.com/batteryminder.cfmand http://www.batterytender.com/. I use the BatteryMinder brand, but both are good. Harley makes one too that I believe does the same thing, but I have not checked that one out. I would guess that some of the forum sponsors sell these two brands as well. But the direct web sites will tell you all there is to know about why and how they work.

Leave the damn tender on all the time thats what it is made for. Everyone I know uses one all winter and no problems. Whay do we treat the battery in the bike different then the one in the car simple the car dont sit for weeks on end even months at a time and it also has more holdin power
