in between plays and commercials guys - salesman told me to hold the speed to 65for the first 500 miles and not use cruise control. I've also heard to break in your engine the way your gonna run it. this UC runs so smooth it's hard to keep it at 65. oh he also told me tokeep the R's down, the valves have to seat. any thoughts or suggestions?
I was told the same thing I kept the R's bewteen 2200 and 4000 and varied the speed up and down for the first 500 miles now I'm at 625 I have been keeping more of a steady speed which should help my mileage!!
first 500 vary your speed. do not use cruise. vary your rpm do not rev over 4100 do not let rpms drop below 2000 or 2500 can't remember. 500 to 1000 miles run the $hit out of it.
Picked up my new '08 UC just before Thanksgiving. Riding per the manual...no revs over 4000 for the first 50 miles, no lugging, and no high revs any longer than needed to shift. Then, up to 500 miles vary engine speed and OK to increase revs to 5000.
The brakes need to be broken in as well...no hard braking for the first 200 miles.
Right out of the box, this engine seems strong and smooth.
Not that i'moverly conserned but from what your saying - i'm luging it. Got 150 miles on it in 2 days and was keeping it at 2000 to 2500 r's. next time out I'll crank itup a bit.
Pete
GrayGhost, Im with you. I broke mine in like I was going to ride it and 25,000 miles on her now and she runs strong....But treat her like a lady and don't abuse her...
