I think they look cool but I wouldn't want one due to the amount of touring that I do. Road debris, saftey issues etc.

Same here. They're just not practical for touring.

Blue on top Black on the bottom, Silver stripe through the middle to seperate the colors. Painted Inner Fairing. Harley Davidson Letters on the fairing so not tank badge. Engine gaurd gone. Street Glide dash. Using Russ Weirnemont Long OCF front fender, hidden Antenae, shorten the windsheild. It should look okay when it's done I think.

Well see, this is exactly my problem! Is this true? Is it really not practical? This is exactly why I have posted this. I was looking for these comments and hopefully morefrom those that may have installed this type of system. I too ride many miles in a year so practicallity is an issue. I honestly don't think there sould be much of a problem with debris as we all have and havehad for many yearsbelt drives turning our back wheels. Safety should not be an issue as there are different gaurds available and somein some really neat designs.
I am hoping someone who has installed and been running one will have some comments.

Billet for you is the only one I know of that you can use and keep standard boards, have been told that you can use softail floorboards and and redrill a hole or two, and then use about anybody's open primary. The Billet for You, is VERY expensive. I have ridden tons of bikes, thousands of miles with open belts, and that is a wife's tale about road debris, etc. Kasper you are right, we run belt drives on the back, no difference. I have seen a couple of belts torn, one was from a bolt that a guy let get loose, and I still dont have any idea how it got between the belt and the pulley, poked a hole in it, and he still ran the belt almost a year. The other was in a wreck.

I think my only concern would be the longevity of the stator?

would it run cooler in open air?

Burned 5 out in a 98 RGI before HD admitted they underwired them and under insulated the windings.
Only one in a 01 RKPI and so far none in my 06 EGI
