brakes are really superb...very strong / keen, so dont squeeze them too hard!

ABS option is great to have and just a real nice safety net.

I'd have to agree with you on the 2008 bikes that Harley is putting out there. They really appear to have stepped up the quality a little from previous years. The paints and colors alone are just very eye catching. I like that on most models they widened the rear tires (Softails & Dynas) and I think they have the 96er and 6 Speed tranny close to perfected. I've been shopping for an '06 Street Glide with low miles but I am very tempted to opt for an '08 with the Brembo Antilock brakes. Seems like it could be a welcome addition on the list of options they offer.

I just picked up my new FLHX Street Glide in black. I had a long list of accessories which I purchased with the bike. Performance wise, I had the SE air cleaner kit and the slightly louder touring mufflers added, then the SERT with dyno tuning. The print-out shows 76.5 HP & 86.5 ft-lbs torque. The HP and torque curves are very flat and wide. I am a former expert licensed road racer and I am very impressed at a what a good motorcycle this is. A lot, or all, of what I thought I knew about H-D's does not apply to these new bikes! I am really impressed with how well H-D matched the gear ratios to the power band. The Brembo brakes are as good as anything I have raced! This big assed motorcycle will flat stop! I have yet to drag anything around a fast, hard corner and the handling is WAY better than I had believed possible with this combination of parts. The stock Dunlop tires work very well. Yesterday we rode hard in some rain on backroads and these tires gave me a lot of confidence and I have roadraced a lot in the rain. My friends cannot believe that I am now riding a H-D and I can tell you all I am very, very happy so far! I love the quick versatility that the quick-detach system gives these bikes, H-D have got it all figured out and are WAY ahead of the other manufacturers on this feature. I agree with the above post about 6th gear. I found myself real happy cruising the highwayin 4th and 5th a few timesand realized I should shift up to 6th. I know not to lug the motor while breaking it in but would appreciate hearing from you all about what minimum RPM you like for the 6th gear?
