I received an early Christmas gift from the wife today...ZUMO 550... What a nice GPS.As a retired charter boat Capt. I have used many brand names of GPS,but the ZUMO 550 is the greatest thing since sliced bread for the Scoot.Easy install,Bluetooth, mounting was a breeze on lower handlebar next to Tach on my 06 police RK. Only problem I can see now is how to tell her why I stayed out rideing late... because I was lost just wont fly any more
I also have the Zumo 550 and reccommend it. I have had several GPS units in the last few years and the Zumo, for me, is the best one yet. Easy to use and so far trouble free.
I really like the way your Tomtom Rider sits on your Road King handlebars. I have an 08 Road King also and I'm researching GPS options. For us owners of Road Kings wiring GPS units seems a little more cumbersome without the options available inside fairings.
My I ask how you wired the unit to your bike. Did you jump off the wiring in the nacelle or did you come off the auxillary power outlet under the seat? I know next to nothing about electrical wiring-is it even possible just to connect the unit to the auxillary switch on the left side of the handlebar?
The bracket attached to your handlebars looks flush mounted, I really like it. Is that the same bracket that comes with a Tomtom?

I ran the wire under the console and attached it to the fuse box. Really easy to do even for a dummy like me. As soon as you turn the ignition on the GPS powers up by it's self. The TomTom comes with an assortment of mounting brackets giving you almost limitless mounting possibilities. It also comes with a blue tooth earphone you can wear under your helmet. I bought an extra bracket for my Sportster and a car kit for my cage. The unit works great! I highly recommend it!
I've been using Garmin gps's for years and think they're the best out there. For the bike/car/truck I bought a Zumo 550 back in May and love it. Can't go wrong with Garmin, even though they do fleece you for monthly db updates for aviation.
Thanks!
I've read great reviews on the Tomtom rider 2.
I really don't need a radio or mp3 player, I may well go with your set up. I really like the looks of it.
You would be suprised what you will not use. Check out the Zumo 550. Also checkout zumoforums.com excellent forum. Its not just the looks but the functionality.
