YOU WANT TO GO WITH AT LEAST AN 02 OR LATER. O2 AND LATER HAVE THE MUCH BETTER DELPHI FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. YOU CAN EASILY FIND ONE WITH ACCESSORIES AND LESS THAN 10K MILES. LOOK ON E-BAY LOCAL NEWSPAPER AND CYCLE TRADER. ALSO AYCLE TRADER.COM. CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING THE MOVE. THE AIR ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSION WILL PLEASE YOUR WIFE.

Agreed on the Air Suspension.

I purchased my Ultra, in large part, because the wife loved it so much. She say's it like riding on a Cadillac back there.

As much as I would love to have an '02 or newer I can't break the bank to do it. I have found several 2000's with 30000 miles on them that i am looking at. Price is the key factor as all can be had for about $12000-$14000.

If you are looking to save money....you should look at a cop bike. You can get some great deals on them.

I considered that but the wife wasn't too keen on it. You know how women are.

I wouldn't necessarily avoid buying an M-M bike. Mine has worked flawless even with the 95" kit. I did add a PCIII and had it tuned with a custom map by an experienced tuner when I tool it to 95". I understand (from the guy who tuned my bike) the Delphi system is much more flexible with higher performance builds. It sounds like you are keeping your Fatboy (nice ride BTW) as the hotrod and are going leave the Bagger fairly stock. Must be nice... lol

As for the cam bearings - My understanding is the MoCo extended the warranty on all 1999 and 2000 TC's to 5 years. I didn't think they would replace the cam bearings under warranty unless they failed. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong here. My point is, unless the cam bearings failed on the bike you are considering, it probably still has the original bearings and cam chain tensioners. If the deal comes together, I would recommend changing the cams to a gear drive set-up. There are numerous cams that would work very well in a stock 88" motor.

Good luck

What he said is absoluley the truth.
Get a price with gear drive cams installed. Fix the bearings and pick up some performance at the same time!

Just reread some of the earlier posts. If price is the big consideration, maybe you could get a written warranty on the cams from the dealer for say 1 yr. Then do cams and bearings, but, whatever you do don't trust the bearings unless you can prove they have been changed or tell the dealer you'll give him his asking price but you want the bearings changed.

For $15,000 you could get a new Electraglide Standard, it's an empty canvas just screaming to be customized!!!
