Amen Skratch,

I was thinking the same thing as you about his comments, I just wrote it off to small man syndrome, or the fact he is close to slipping his dripper...... I am referring to Chornbe!!!!

Thanks again for speaking up...

If you just want sound, go with SoCal_Pappy's advice. Changing the mufflers without changing the air cleaner won't dramatically change the air/fuel ratio.

If you want smoother running, more power as well, definitely go with YodaddyKeith's advice. He's done his homework and $750 buys you a whole can of whoop-*** as well as cool sound.

Either way, a Harley just oughta not sound the way it does outta the showroom. I just spent $2,700 on Rinehart TDs, SE air cleaner, SERT, SE A/C cover and dyno tune. It did however give me 98 hp and 115 ft lb, so me very happy!

I own an 08 e-glide standard. and I just cant bare the sound of those stock pipes any longer. God as magnificent a machine this is, its horrible when no one even hears you pull up in the drive way. This is borderline embarrassing. It is a Big twin ya know? Ok, so I know this has been posted many times, so pls forgive me as I am new to the forum. But I am just wondering what I can do to change this with a small budget. Just dont have the money to do a complete stage 1 right now. What pipes can I go with without effecting the bike running lean or rich or effecting the torque etc. I guess what Im trying to ask is, what can I do to make bike a little louder without spending a boat load of cash. Just something til I can afford to do the whole stage 1.
Embarrassing? *scratches head*

Wow. Actually *I'M* embarrassed for you. I don't know what's worse... the fact that you had to drop every last available penny to spend >$15k on your bike to join a "me too" crowd, or that you feel you need to get further validation by putting "look at me" noise makers on it 'cause just buying in isn't enough. It's kinda sad, really.
My owning a harley has nothing to do with wanting to join a me too crowd. I love the bikes they make. Has nothing to do withbuying a lifestyle or trying to join a crowd or any other sterotypicalreason. Its as simple as that. Last time I checked, I dont know you personally sir...and I damn sure doubt you know me. So what makes you think by reading some stinking thread in a forum that you got my personal finances all figured out?? Where you there when I purchased bike? Do you have access to my bank account? The stock exhaust on the bike sound like pure crap. Thatsmy damn opinion, and I got a right to it. If my post offended you, then maybe you should spend more time ridding your hog and less timetyping thoughtless responses to posts that you may or may not agree with.By trying to validate your intelligence you have only managed to expose yourignorance."Atta boy" chornbe.

King Kong,

I've recently experienced your frustration and had to make the same choices.....I found this forum very helpful then, but for some reason these folks are blasting you.....(Scratching my head)

Back to your question:

Just yesterday I installed a setup from fuelmoto.usa that cured all my issues with sound and performance. The whole system cost less than a set of truduals alone and it truely is worth every cent.

I spent 750 bucks for the following------

-Specially designed and crafted pair of Rush slipons
-PCIII USB
-K&N 3909 air filter kit
-Custom fuel map created by Jamie himself

I'll insist there is no half-way fix. I strongly suggest you do not attempt to piece it together in stages as you can afford it. You really are better off to decide where you want to end up and then do it all at once when you can afford it.

If all you want is to cure the heat, low power-low noise issues, then I cannot suggest a better/cheaper solution than the kit from fuelmoto.
sounds like you got a pretty good deal. After doing some research and talking with some mechanics, I have found it to be my best bet to do the stage 1 or nothing at all. Something with the new 08s that prevent just adding slip ons without doing the whole kit. So its only a matter of time and I will get er done. Will just have to deal with "wimpy" stock exhaust for now. Thank you all (most of you all) for your replies and advice.

you know, you don't know his situation. maybe he used up every extra penney he had to buy that bike. not all of us can just go pick up a new bike whenever we want to, we actually have to work for a living and buy those silly things like heat, and food. so after throwing down a couple k for the down payment, then all the extra stuff like registration, insurance, etc. there just sometimes isn't much left over.

the dude just wants his bike to sound like a harley. okay, so he used more colorful language to describe it, but so what? it makes for a more interesting read then 'i want louder pipes, whatcha suggest?'

i haven't (and probably won't either) researched your posts, but i have noticed that i see your name associated with a lot of negative posts. have you posted anything other than a flame? if not, maybe you oughta see a shrink about that holier than thou complex you got going on.....
+1

I Was thinking, and have been noticing the same patern in his posts lately.

I am in a simalar boat as King Kong here. Yes, I did just drop a boat load of cash and financing to get my RG. That was on top of trading in my FXD that I had my own blood, sweat, and tears in. It is not easy, and I do hear what you guys are saying about don't skimp, but sometimes, I just can't afford a dealer service or all the best parts that I want, so I have to wait, save, wrench, or search the forums for guidence. That's why we are all here. Not to get flamed on or beat down when we ask an honest question. My mamma taught me that if I can't say something nice, then shut the f... up.

OK, I am also in the same boat at KK. I hate the stock setup and sound, but I don't have the cash to get all the parts I want. I was looking at just adding slipons and later piecing it together too, but the lean condition, and also rebuying parts, has me thinking otherwise. I have talked to Jaime at FM and have been reading about the new custom package he's putting together and have decided to go for that package later on. That's the same package that Yoda was talking about. I do know that you can do the Rush slipons right now, and then go back to FM and get the map, PCIII, and AC plus the just the baffle upgrade for the Rush slipons. You might spend a little more in the long run.

Only you know what your situation is.

Awesome color on that RG dude. Hey listen. We all have a love for these harleys. We all have our own individual preferences and tastes. Thats what makes this community so unique. I am very thankful for platforms like this, as you and I and many others can come up here and maybe find someone thats been thru what we are going thru and maybe get some helpful pointers. Whats the harm in sharing ideas and opinions? At the end of the day You and only you will make the final decision as to what you end up doing. I just hate when someone comes in and drops a blanket reply to soothe his/herego or insecurities.

I am so glad that someone else finally stepped up to the plate. Chornbe has a stupid, ignorant comment constantly, and is consistently flaming people with his anti-Hd views. Corn beef I don't care if you own a HD or not you have some serious issues. This website is called HD forums so chances are you are probably going to get people on this site that like HD. Honda forum is waiting to see what you post next. I am embarrased that you own a Harley. Most people are considerate and very helpful which is more than I can say for you. What business is it of yours what anyones bike sounds like?

King Kong, I think that the flaming you got was uncalled for. Lets hope he either wises up or he'll go too far one day and the Mods will ban him.

Like you I've been wondering what to do about upgrading my bike. I considered many options and the price to benefit ratio varied widely.

The Fuelmoto system that Yodaddy tested for Jamie, almost sounds too good to be true! But there are too many positive posts to ignore.

I plan to try it myself after the first of the year. Maybe I'll get enough back from the Infernal Revenue Service to swing it. Got to get through Xmas first!

Good luck with what ever you decide to do. Don't let a few negative types put you off. There is a lot of good advise and info available here. You sometimes have to wade through the BS to get too it.

I would wait and do it right from the get go. Once you are ready to spend the money buy everything at once full exhaust, air cleaner & power tuner.

Asfar as people here there is a bunch of guys that truly post real helpfull threads and are more than willing to help. You are always going to have some smart *** comments but who cares just ignore it and move on. Anybody can sit in front of a computer and type some stupid stuff usually is that they cantbuy their way out of a paper bag....[sm=loser.gif][sm=loser.gif][sm=loser.gif]
