Default Road Glide Intercom Help

I recently purchased the intercom kit for my 07 Road Glide. The kit comes with a new switch housing and wiring for the intercom switches as well as a new "speaker" switch for the dash. I asked the dealer if I actually needed the housing and switch as the bike appears it already has the wiring, and they stated that the stock handlebar controls are "dummies" and only control the radio. Not sure if this is true or not but went with their opinion anyway.

I dropped the bike off yesterday for the installation of the "intercom kit". Just received a phone call today from the dealership stating that I need to order a "non-ultra wiring harness" in order to install the partsand it was overlooked when I ordered my parts. I'm notto familiar with the electronics on the bike but feel that I'm being ripped off.Has anyone in here had an intercom system installed on their Road Glide? If so, is the above information received from the dealership accurate? Thanks.

Default RE: Road Glide Intercom Help

"Ripped off" requires that the dealer's rep knows one thing but tells you another---I never assume the dealer folks know what they are talking about. But here's what the HD P&A catalag says, and you can decide if you have what you need or not:

Advanced Audio Intercom Kit

Keep the lines of communication open. This easy-to-use voice activated intercom system allows the rider and passenger to communicate without resorting to hand signals. Independent volume controls allow rider and passenger to adjust the sound to comfortable levels. The integrated system automatically lowers the radio volume when the intercom is in use.

76440-06

Fits '06-later Touring models equipped with an Advanced Audio Radio and a rigid mount Tour-PakÂŽ luggage system. Requires installation of Intercom System Flash P/N 76441-06/DT, Wiring Harness P/N 70169-06, Rear Speaker Kit P/N 77155-06, Communications Switch Kit P/N 77173-06 or 77173-07.
