OK, for those of you that have eliminated the external antennas on your bike and gone to internal - what do you have and how does it work? This is on my list of things to do to the RG and I need ideas. Thanks.
I installed a tune trapper antenna that I found on Ebay. I bought the one with the short 1ft. cable so there wasn't a bunch of extra cable to deal with. I bought it because I didn't want to run a power cable for the powered antennas that are available. It works fine for me. I don't notice any difference from the stock antenna. I have read some posts that gave the tune trapper a poor review compared to stock. Works for me though.
I mounted it to the back of the radio with the supplied 2 sided tape and then I flexed the "arms" of the antenna and tied them down with wire ties to the back of the guage mounting brackets on both sides. Sorry I don't have a picture and I'm not about to pull the damn fairing off again to get one. I did find out that it is much easier to get the fairing back on the hooks if you take the headlight out first. You can see the hooks that way. You simply snap the headlight back in afterward. Saves a bigger headache.
