OK guys, you know that I am about to do this 95" build on my bike. So far I have the 95" jugs and pistons (thanks phil), and I bought some cheap SE 204 cams. I wanted to go with the HW-0034, but need to save money where I can.
What I need to know is what else I need to install the jugs, pistons, and cams. I figure I need the top end gasket kit, PN# 17052-99B. I am sticking with my stock push rods (again, because of money). What I need to get PN for are the bearings I will need to install the SE 204 cams... along with anything else I will need. I want to gather all my parts together before I begin, and with the Holidays coming, I have to do it piece by piece.
So, what else do I need? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ok, I'll try to remember....
cam plate cover gasket, cam plate o-rings, hose clamp for fuel line, exhaust gasketsthats all i can think of at this timeto put it back together....
Were it me I'd buy the S&S chain cam install kit for $75 which includes Timken inner bearings and outer bearings, gasket and bolts. I'd also buy the Cometic top end kit instead of HD's which you can get to include the Cometic .030 head gasket. If you do stick with the HD kit then at least get the Cometic .030 head gaskets for about $30. If you're replacing lifters you can save some cash and get some Gaterman lifters off ebay for $50 for the 4 as opposed to HD's for $120. They are "B" equivalents. I ran them in my 04

Alright, I'll get the s & s cam install kit. Is there a PN for it, and who has the best price? Also, do you know the PN to order the Cometic top end kit for my '05 rk custom? And where to buy it? I had not planned on replacing the lifters, do you think I should? The bike has less than 10k miles on it? Now, if I go with the HD PN gasket kit, what PN for just the cometic .030 head gasket?
You may need to replace your chain guides. 20,000 miles seems the average life of those. I have seen some with less then 15,000 that were shot. I went the gear cam way.

Frist item is HD lifters. I did my 95" at 4200 miles and reused the stock lifters. Just pulled them at 104,000 miles to inspect the cam lobes to see if I could get 1 more year out of the motor. Except for light scoring on the main lifter body they looked like new.
The 39954-99A is primary cam drive tensioner.
The 39964-99A is secondary
The 39965-99 is chain guide

Thanks dawg, I really appreciate the help.
If you go to the cometic website it will give you the pn#'s for the entire top end kit with the .030 and it will also give you just the .030 pn#. I can't remember what it is off the top of my head. The S&S chain cam install kit you can get through Drag at a dealer, or online somewhere. The thing about S&S is that they won't allow dealers to display prices on line. I know that it's around $75 from our Drag book at the HD shop where I work. As far as lifters, some folks say that any time you change a cam you should change out the lifters. Under 10k miles you should be ok, but it's your call.
