I would do it, just take your time and drink plenty of fluids. Age has nothing to do with it, go out and have the time of your life. Next time you will want to double that mileage.

Then I will take the trip for you on your bike I'm only 52 anHey I even pay for the gas and call you every nite to let you know how its going. Deal or No-deal?
Sorta jealous, those temps and that scenery... Agree with the others, take your time and enjoy some of the less travelled roads. As old as you are you'll probably have to stop often and change your Depends...
This past summer I rode with my bro in-law across the country from west to east...over 6000 miles....we celebrated his 67th birthday on the road.....go for it.
I scrolled staright to the bottom to make my post so if someone has already said this I apologize....the regrets we have in life are usually not from what we did, but rather from what we did not do!....From a soon to be 57 year old...go take that ride yung feller!
Well it seems like everyone agrees, this is a worthwhile trip and at your age there are people older than you you've travelled much further. Someone I know who is 73 year old rides 2 up fromSouthern California to Sturgis every year and has travelled extensively from coast to coast on his Road King and back. This is the kind of rideYOUR bike is built for. Don't have any second thoughts about it. If it's it what you want to do...go for it.
The father of a friend of mine rode his Fatboy from the Eastern Shore of Virginia to TX and met a couple guys then rode to Sturgis and from there to San Diego and Back to VA. and he was 70 at the time. And remember I said Fatboy.
He's a better man than me and I'm only 43, I rode my Fatboy from VA the Myrtle Beach Bike Week and back and thought my back was broken when I got home. Later that year I bought my Road Glide.
