Am I the only guy with an 08 that can't seem to put more than 4.5 - 5 gallons in his tank? The other day I intentionaly let the tank run real low to the point I thought enough, "I'm going to be pushing". Anyway, all I could put in the tank was just under 5 gallons. According to everyone and their mother we with the 08's have a 6 gallon tank.
Is one gallon kept in "reserve"?Just wondering, I have no complaints with the bike.
I put 5.2 gallons in just a little while ago on the way home. I've let it go until it said lo in the mileage left display and put in about 5.6. When the gas pump warning light comes on that means youshould have about a gallon left.
I know that in 08 they relocated the fuel crossover to the back of the tank, or integrated it internally. I wonder if that hinders the ability to fill it?
it probably does hold 6 gallons. it is just the POS fuel guage. it was built by the same retarded guy that built the air temp guage and the low fuel warning light. none of which are accurate.
I've got the 6 gallon tank--My fuel guageis dead solid perfect-I've taken it down to reserve, done another 20 miles(burns about 1/2 gallon every 20 or so)and filled it up with 5 1/2 gallons. The dial and indicator ligts all register exactly what's in the tank.
That said as many will tell you, still good to keep an eye on the odometer too.
I have wondered the same the same thing. I have run it down until it read LO on the gas gauge countdown.... and then rode another 20 miles or so.... and it still only took 4.9.

Me too exactly!! My gas gauge is not accurate. I goby miles. But I read in here that most guys start looking for a station around 170 miles.I have to start looking at 150 miles.
???? I rode an 06 Deluxe with a 5 gallon tank and I rarely ever put in over 4 gallons.....light comes on I go about 20- 30 miles and get gas. Actual milage varies depending how I'm riding but rarely put on over 4 gallons.
