Default Sorry Guys but I gota VENT

Ive been having a Elec problem with the EGC so while I have it torn down I thought I would replace the fuel filter. Well all is fine except when you try to take the factory tubes off of everthing. Because of there fine way of crimping the tubes onto everthing now not only do I have to replace the filter I now have to replace the pump because of trying to get the factory crimped clamp off the pump the pump outlet port broke. No telling how much thats gonna cost. Bros becareful if you ever try to do this, it could eat your lunch. [:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]

There is a outstanding step by step write up on this exact subject in the December issue of American Iron.

That clip should have been cut with a pair of dikes/side cutters, then use a pair of hose pliers to carefully remove the hose....and then the hose that came with the filter goes on with a new hose clamp.

Check out #12

Thanks Biz, wish I had seen that earler it might have helped me a little bit. Called Fort Worth Harley about the pump and just the pump its self is 170.00 and if I want the whole pump assy with filter and everthing its 410.00 the filter which I have is 90.00 so I think im gonna try and cement the port back together and pray that it works and holds with the hose and clamp on and if it dosent well I guess I will get a new pump.

I'd suck it up and order the parts from a discount dealer before I tried gluing a critical part back together, much less a critical part that is submerged in gasoline, which will likely affect the glue. Your tow home may cost as much as the part.

Come on don't halfa$$ this project do it right the first time and you won't regret it. Just think if that port breaks off in the middle of a ride? Put the new pump on and you won't regret it. By the way when you get the new hoses from Harley they come with those same clamps so you will need the special crimp tool for them. Luckily we had that tool in our shop. This is a $20,000 bike don't sacrifice that on glue or apoxy it could create a bigger problem in the long run. Just my opinion....

Getyurmotorunnin......Do you want to keepyourmotorrunnin????????

By no means glue that thing back. You made the mistake which is an honest one and can happen. As it has been posted, suck it up and fix it right. You don't want it to crap out on the middle of a ride. Remember, your not in a cage. Don't sacrifice for less!!!!!!!
