#1 Sorry to hear about your bike Fast Eddie.
#2 Don't worry about Crash, he's the type of person who gets off on getting a rise out of people.
#3 Hope all works out and you get it back or a nice settlement.
#4 Ever thought of adopting a son? I'd be more than willing to help you out, I'll even bring my own bike, just kidding, best wishes.

State Farm is a good company and we have had good dealings with them in getting fair settlements. I am a machinery dealer and machinery & equipment appraiser. I can relate to your situation from doing some "forensic" appraisal work involving damaged machinery. Go engage a certified appraiser of motorcycles to furnish a "Fair Market Value" appraisal of your stolen motorcycle based on the stock bike plus the parts and work done. Give the appraiser copies of all the receipts, etc., you can get together. The take-off parts should be valued for what you sold them for, or their value with the amount of use they had on them at the time they were replaced. (NOT at current new replacement cost.) Have good comparables (sales data of the most similar motorcycles to yours you can find and document.) documented by the appraiser to show Sate Farm. "Used Asking" prices are not comparables because everyone wants to negotiate and therefore we generally ask more than we will actually take. Be reasonable. Don't take the first offer they make to settle unless you are sure it is very reasonable. You might keep the appraisal confidential until you get State Farm's best settlement offer. If they don't exceed your appraisaed value, then give them the whole set of documents, receipts, comparables, etc., Good Luck!

I am not trying to be a dick. It may be a day late and a dollar short, but here is my advice for what it is worth.

Take a little extra time to get the bikes in and out of the garage. Get rid of the auto door opener. Use the sliding lock on the rolling door into the door track. Drill a hole in it, and put a master lock in it. Put a deadbolt lock on the side door, and reinforce the back side so it cant be kicked in.

If you have the patients to build such beautiful bikes, take the time to secure them.

I hope you get a fair settlement from the insurance. I don't know if I could stand having a bike that was already stolen from me... kind of a bad omen. Especially if they laid it down. It just wouldnt be the same bike to me.
