I'd like to upgrade the stock fairing speakers on my 2006 EGC. I don't want to use an amp, would just likesome better sounding speakers. The Hawg Wired speakers are a bit pricy in my opinion unless you are going to run an amp and need the higher wattage rating.
I did some research on the internet and came up with the JBL GTO527s and was wondering if anyone has tried them and your opinions on them. Or for that matter any other brand 5.25" 2 ohm speakers and opinions on them over stock speakers with out using an amp.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!
Installed JBL's in my 07 SG. Better than stock but not earth shattering. Also the JBL's are designed as a top mount speaker. Not much mounting surface around the front of the speaker.
I have the JBL GTO speakers in my Ultra, they made some difference but the biggest difference I saw was while having the outer fairing off i lined the inside of it with some fire resistant material for insulation , bought it at Wal-Mart , a bag full for about $10.00. Nice improvement.
I bought a pair of the JBL GTO's off ebay for like $40 shipped BNIB. I didnt get a chance to install them yet, but I know they have GOT to be better than the stock units.....and then if I dont like them....I will just put them in my Bronco, and go with a set of Hawg-Wired speskers...and I may even go with one of their amp's by then.....who knows. I do know that the stock HD speakers on my 08' SG are sort of lack luster.
Dropped Polk Audio's in my Glide after blowing a stock speaker. Got them from hellsfoundry.com...they rock! Have a Biketronics amp in the garage, no freakin' time to put it in though!
