When I traded my 04 RG a few weeks ago it crossed my mind to try something different like a SG, until I sat on it. Went straight back to the RG. Whatever makes ya happy!
You gotta WATCH them women that insist you go deeper in debt....It's usually gals like that who have run up tons of secret credit cards and hope they can toss your evils back at you when you discover they cut off the phone
Seriously, I don't think any first time Harley buyer ever gets it right the first time.....There is a definite learning curve involved that consists of ride, looks, and function.......you will trade till you find exactly what fits you....It's a Rule.
Can't say I would go from a RG to a SG. RG is much better for long hauls. If you want to lower it to the SG height, do that front and rear. The 08 however, has improvements over the 07 that i like..........6 gal tank, IDS at the rear, optional ABS. 2007 was still a transition period to some new mechanics so that is another reason i would prefer an 08.
I love my wife's new 08 RG. Could ride that all day and not be tired.
You'd probably be better off selling rather than trading. Most stealerships are probably stil trying to get rid of the last of their '07's, so they probably won't make a generous offer and add a used one to their inventory. But who knows? Maybe if the stealer in question is moving a lot of '07s, they'd be willing to haggle. Might as well ask. Just goin prepared to walk out - dont' fall in love with a bike on the floor, then ask about trade-ins.
I tried trading my 06 R.K. for an 07 but I made out better by selling the bike at the dealership on consignment and then applying the ballance to the new bike. Some dealers will do this I got nearly 17K for my bike when sold. (it was heavily accesorised)
