Default Ship Date Question

Hi. I have a question regarding York Plant ship dates. I ordered my '08 FLHT about 8 weeks ago. It had and still has a ship date of 12/12 which was this past Wednesday. Unfortunately, neither the bike nor its paperwork has yet arrived at the dealer's yet. It's not that I'll be able to ride the bike anytime soon up here in the Northeast with all the salt and cinders on the road right now, but I'd still like to get it in my garage. Besides, installing the accessories I got for it will keep me busy on those nasty winter days when I can't do anything else.

Anyway, my question is, what was your experience regarding your ship date vs. when your bike actually arrived at the dealership?

Thanks!

First congrats on the new ride.
Iwas told they always ship on Wednesdays from the plant. My dealer looked it up in the computer and called me when they knew it had shipped.

Thanks for the congrats and the info! That's very helpful. A few bikes did arrive at the dealership last Wednesday, but mine wasn't among them. Maybe this week!

P.S.- The York Plant is less than four hours south of here. Maybe I should volunteer to pick it up and deliver it to the dealer myself.

I'll definitely be on the lookout for that, Rick! Thanks! It sounds like fun! BTW, I'm in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area. Not very far south of there.

I ordered my 08 FLHR in mid-September and was originally given a "December build date". That was refined in mid-November to a specific "January 3rd ship date". I was at my dealer last weekend and according to the status on his computer, my order was "being released to the factory". He said that was a good sign, and that my January 3rd ship date should still be good (which would mean I'd be able to actually pick it up sometime around the 10th). I took it as slightly hopeful that the factory was a little ahead of schedule. We'll see.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our weather here in Virginia will hold long enough for me to be able to get a few rides in before we end up with snow, ice, and salt on the roads. But like you, even if I can't ride it I just want to get it home. So I can, I dunno, look at it.

Congrats on the new ride. Should make a nice Xmas present!

I put my order in for a black Pearl with ABS and Security on 10/9 for a march dilivery. Figured why make payments on a scoot I cann't ride in the snow. Just found out dilivery date 2/29 Leap year good omen. That is a friday so maybe week early or late no problem. I have never ordered a bike always went in, seen what I liked and drove off. I have always have been an impulse buyer. waiting is a new thing for me makes the bike that much more enjoyable. also without the bike payment I am able to buy assessories and trust methe garage is filling up as fast as the savings is shrinking. It will be a glorious spring that is if the old lady doen't smack me with the new exaust and leave me for dead. Hey what the f@#$ who need to go on a cruise anyway.

I ordered my FLHTC with ABS on Sept 8th. They did a change on a ANN. model ultra that was scheduled to be built for their stock. It had an original ship date of the 7th of November. Arrived at the dealer on the 28th...one week later and I rode her home on the Dec 6th. So it was a month late. Only got 70 miles on her now and 12 inches of snow last week and 6 more today..........Dam winter!!!!

Mack, any insight on the reason for the delivery delays?

can understand if there were last minute engineering or setup-for-manufacturing issues, like for the Rocker. For something like ABS, the only thing I can think of that would reasonably cause repeated delays are parts supply issues.
