I know that I am going to get some smart *** remarks and so on but here it goes. I have been riding motorcycles for over thirty years. One thing I have noticed for the past 6-7 years is what people wear while they are riding their scoots. I have seenpeople wearing, headbands, leather vest, men wearing a ring in every finger, knives on the side. My point is do you have to wear all that to be a cool rider. I think the movie wild hogs made a great point on that. Is somebody a poser because they ride their motorcycle only on the weekends? It really does not matter to me when or what you wear when you ride, does it matter to you? I would not wear any of those things. I dress for the fall not for the ride. I am by no means a trouble maker, like to make friends, hit the road and ride just don't like people judging people because they don't ride everyday.

Carhartt pants Tshirts, leatherman, cell phone. No need to carry since everybody else is a "poseur".

I wear what I want, and I ride when I want. I do wear my HD or Sturgis Tees and a HD leather jacket, some of my dew-rages have graphics, others don't, but that doesn't matter much now as I've returned to wearing a helmet. I'm not a cold weather rider and prefer not to ride in rain if I can avoid it, but do carry my rain gear along and have spent many days riding in rain over the years while on a multi-week bike vacation. I don't carry a gun, my opinion is it can get you into as much trouble as it can get you out of. Traveling through different states and being stopped for a minor traffic violation can turn into something much more serious if a LEO happens to see you are packing and you happen not to have a carry permit for that state. If somebody wants my bike so bad that its gonna turn into a shoot-out they can have it.

[sm=exactly.gif] 20 miles and 20 thousand does not make you a biker. I have seen some that change their entire lifestyle and wardrobe just because they own a Harley now. Don't get me wrong, I am the most comfortable in jeans and a t shirt, which usually happens to be a Harley shirt, and a pair of boots. I also dress for the fall. Those that ride in shorts and flip flops have never been down before.

OR, I have seen the posers trailer their museum pieces into the shop on a trailer, start them up, back it off the trailer, and do just the opposite when their service is done. [sm=WTFsgign.gif]

OR, I have seen the posers trailer their bikes to bike week, and they weren't from near as far away as I was. [sm=dontgetit.gif]

C'mon... that's an *** answer. They're simply an alternative bike. And a lot of them will run circles around a stock Harley if you're in to going fast. There are a **** ton more business suit wearing wannabes with extra income buying Harleys than there are buying other brands. Posers are the guys who spend more time cleaning than riding, then parking their bikes at the local bar or at the end of their driveway saying "look at me".

Why is it that in order to be considered a biker by some, you have to dress specificallyor own a bike for a certain period of time? Is there some sort of written codefor bikers? Does a boater have to wear plaid pants with a pair of docksiders and a captains cap to be considered a real boater and not a poser or just own a boat?

Whatever floats your boat......wear what you want..........it's still a free country. Just be prepared to have your *** kicked by someone dressed in leathers if your caught in those plaid pants and captains cap.
