Not a problem installing - hardest part is the switchs if your going to change them out also.... I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND HD Chrome Switch Housing - I have use aftermerket\re-chromed housings in the past with not much luck... chrome pealed or was to thick that the switch wouldn't move right...
Could always send your housings out for chrome esp if down for the winter.A well known chromer will give you the quality your after.Maybe cheaper/better finishthan buying new or aftermarket.
This was the first real mod I did on my ultra. Make sure you have the manual to see how the wire brackets, etc. are supposed to go back together. A couple of the screws inside the housings are a major PITA to get lined up while you're trying to get all the wires to stay bent correctly and get the switches in their correct alignment. Still did it myself with my trusty screw driver and torx bits. I agree, unless you like that look (I know some do) be sure and pick up the chrome switch covers while you're in it.The worst part of these are the bottom ones that slide onto the switch stems. I had one in which the stem was actually 180 degrees off - you could actually see where the original button had been dremeled out to fit onto the stem! At any rate - I really like the results.
You are wise to ask before buying because the lower halves must accommodate two switches in each lower and it's a tight fit for the switches and their wiring.
Do these come with the internal frame/wire positioning pieces that secure the audio and cruise swithes in the lower halves? I ask because it was difficult enough doing the job right with the HD housings in positioning the lower audio/cruise switches, securing them, then installing the turn signals, then assembling the housings on the handlebar while avoiding a pinched wire along the way.
not too hard to install, I put the Hrley brand on my bike, they were 100.00 I didn't realize till last year that I could have bought them on e-bay for 50.00.....there is a litle plastic tool to disconect the cruise , squech and mode buttons, the turn, stop and horn are let alone, they are n a circut board that screws on easlily....takes less than an hou for both sides...
