Default SE-253 cam question

I am leaning towards the SE-255 cam that comes with the StageII kit. I've seen lots of dyno sheets and the 255 seems to produce lots of torque and right where I want it. Now the other day while in a shop that I have great respect for, the owner (30 years) says the 253 would be a far better cam and leave room for growth to a 103 down the road. Also will work better if I get into head work. To me the 255 with 103 seems like all I will ever need or want. Sooooooo...... I have been looking at the 253 cams and honestly I can find very little info on these cams and fewer dyno sheets. The ones I have found show the 253's lacking in torque until after 2500 rpm's. I have the 6 spd on my 08 SG and plan to use it so I want all the torque I can get and the lower it begins the better I will like it. Anyway, does anyone run the 253 or have info on it as I still would like to find out about them.

Go with a after market cam. Woods or S&S geardriven cam don't waste you money on the SE stuff please.

Take a cruise on your Bike and Monitor the RPM Range that you ride in then choose your Cams for that RPM Range

I have to agree with lil_gmac2 get a woods cam
i have a tw-400 with a 07 and 6tgh gear.
oh i went to a 103 and 10.5-1 with SE ported heads
but i can ride two up in 6th gear in the hills and it will pick up speed pulling a hill.
the duration along with center line of the cam determines torque
if you keep in mind the duration that will be enough
anything under 235 is almost stock
anything over about 248 will start to become a midrange cam
anything over about 260 - 265 becomes a total top end cam
my woods cam drops off at about 4500
but is so enjoyable to ride
hope this helps

The 253 is an EPA compliant cam that was stock in previous 103" CVOs.

I'm involved with a warranty issue right now at only 1000 miles. I would like an aftermarket cam but don't want to lose my warranty. I didn't think the SE253 was for me but just wanted some info.

the 2007 & 2008 Police Bikes come with the 103 engine OEM.
They are nothing more than a 96 with a Big Bore Kit....same cams & same heads.
They make peak torque of 102 ft.lbs. @ 2500 rpm.

Might consider this route.....

That must be at the crank which puts rwtq at about 88.
That sounds right as most bone stock 96" get around 80tq.
