Default Antenna question......>>>

I want to get rid of that stupid antenna on my Street Glide. That big antenna makes the bike look like some sort of full sized radio controlled toy. I just want to get a idea of what those of you who have removed the antenna used to replace it with? Also.....even though I live in the NYC Metro area, and radio reception is just fine for the most part, when I go for a ride up-state NY or into the hills inNorth WestJersey the reception can get a little funny....like I said though its only in the fringe areas. For the most part my AM/FM reception is 5X5, and I dont want to give that up if it can be helped.

You can go to most any auto parts store and get a short stubby black antenna or many have talked of mounting antenna inside fairing.

I installed the J & M on my Ultra. They are good but not quite as good as the whips. I am in the country so my reception is not good sometimes. The J&M look alot better than the whips.

Cut the stock antenna. Or you can order a shortie like the one I got for about $25.

Lots of folks are coming in to the shop and buying the new 08 stock antenna that comes on the FLHX because it is so much shorter and putting them on their older FLHX.

I cut my antenna to 14" and it didn't hurt the reception, looks much better and doesn't hit me in the eye when I walk by.

There are a lot of under the fairing antennas out there that do the job. Any boat shop will have powered, hidden antennas that are used for marine applications, Tunetrapper has a good antenna that goes in the fairing as does Dakota Digital.

I have used the Dakota digital and the TuneTrapper and both give about the same reception with the TuneTrapper being considerably cheaper.

Got a "shorty" antenna {approx. 10" long }off Ebay for under $20. total. Just screwed on the stock H/D mount and works fine .
