i was at my stealer over the weekend getting some prices of things to do to the SG over the winter. one of the things i want to do is chrome the forks and brake calipers. i cant believe how expensive the moco parts are....$456.95 for the chrome front end kit and $744.95 for the chrome brake caliper kit for a total of $1201.90. i asked them if they ever sent these items off to be chromed. they called however they use for chroming and i can get my stuff done for less than $500. i chose that option, ordered a SERT, and still had money in my pocket.
Yeah they don't call em the"stealerships" for nothin. I very rarely buy anything from them unless it is a t-shirt from one that I've never been to. I like going in and seeing all the toys but that's about it. I did go into one a buy a SE Stage I Air kit this last weekend. They tried to get me to buy a SERT but I'm opting for a PCIII which I ordered yesterday from fuelmoto. A friend of mine works at HD of Montgomery here in Bama and he told me that they make their $$$ on parts, accessories and clothes.
so you think that getting forks and brake calipers for $480 is still high priced? i thought it didnt sound to bad. i'll do so searching and see what i come up with.
This guy has an exchange program, or you can send yours in for plating. Their work is excellent. I believe they are also a sponsor of the forum. Highly recommended.

I work at a dealership, get great deals, etc.,......but when it comes to chrome front ends, etc., I can still do much better on ebay and that's without sending them my parts for exchange.
Friend of mine owns S&H Chrome in Madison, TN...Sam Robinson.
Lower Legs & Cow Bells...$200
Calipers...$75 per 1/2, 4 halves...$300
I don't pay this much but that's what it'll cost...plus a 6-8 week wait.
So yes, the $480 is a good price...if its show chrome...none of that production chrome garbage.
Show chrome = triple plated
