My RK is at the dealer getting a race tuner and dynoed today. Just got a call from their service dept. about needing to replace the 'compensator nut'. I was told the tuner had it on the dyno for about an hour and noticed something amiss. Well, I was riding her yesterday and did'nt notice anything unusual. I am curious if this part fails quite regular or if it got trashed from the guy running the dyno. ???
I agree with Phil... My RK had the same issue and they told me something stupid like I had to pay for a gasket and 30 inutes of time. I told them no and after 10 seconds of consideration the servce manager said it was on them....
It's pretty common from what the HD mechanics told me. Its an easy job, remove the loose one, clean the threads, red locktit it, and torque it back correctly. I check mine from time to time by removing the inspection cover and looking in with a flashlight. A few thousand miles and it has been fine.
Hey twin cam....is m-1170 the service bulletin number? This happened to a friends 05 anniv fatboy....it coast her around $300 to have it fixed at the dealer.
