Default Silverstar headlightlight bulbs???

On my last bike, I changed my headight bulb to a H4 60/55W #472SVS OSRAM Silverstar bulb. Terrific light. I quit running the fog lights in the day and just left the headlight on high all the time. I had no problems in the year that I ran the bulb. **This is an OSRAM Silverstar, made in Germany I believe, not a Sylvania Silverstar. I had read the OSRAM is supposed to be better, so Ibought it.

My ultra's lighting leaves a lot to be desired. I've read where some have uses the regular Sylvania model H4ST and had problems with them blowing out?

Anyone had any experience with the OSRAM bulb as an upgrade? Don't want a meltdown, but sure need some more light and would prefer the H4 OSRAM just on my past experience with it.

I use the Sylvania Silverstars on both my bikes, and have had a set in my Ford Bronco for about three years now, and with the beating that thing takes on a daily basis.....I am quite happy with their performance as far as longevity goes....and they do light very well.

Standard bulbs will pre-maturely blow out on your bike, make sure they are made for extre vibration (HD) or else get extras, you will be replacing often!

I have tried using them on my cage without much success. I went through 4 low beams in 2 years. All had the element burn out. I am not at all pleased with them. They do provide better light than my original head lights but I expect more than 6 months of service life. I would never try one on my bike.

I have one of the regular H4 bulbs in my RKC. It's got about 10k miles on it so far and hasn't blown out.

Heres' what a guy from another thread uses:

"guys.....the best bang for the buck is.......for you guys with driving lights on your baggers....
change the H-D bulbs out and replace them with
GE #4509.....they are PAR 36 100w Aircraft landing lights.....they are direct fits into the stock housing........about $8.00 each..........you can see for days in the nighttime....

I had them...I know what they do..... "
