I had the Basic slash cuts put on my 08 SG this time around. Last bike I had duals with VH Ovals. I like the Basics for sound better I think. You're gonna like em!
I have not had the slash-cuts, but my V&H Oval Slip-Ons went on very easy and were of superb quality - the welds were gorgeous and the chrome was first-rate. I suspect that you are really gonna like your slash-cuts. I recommend that you use new HD muffler clamps instead of reusing your old ones (just easier to get on); the clamps from V&H didn't really impress me.
I loved my basic VH slipons, size and sound. I would still run them but went to a 2-1 system.
Vance and Hines makes a great product. Easy to install you can reuse your clamps retorque to 55 ft lbs. Some will say not to reuse the clamps, I did for three times without problems. Put the clamp all the way up on the end to cover the slits in the slipon and tighten everything up.
Are you doing a sert or pcIII? This is a much larger baffle/pipe than stock, not sure I would run VH pipes without a fuel management system, my .02....
I've had V&H basic slipon's on three bikes. Top notch product. I like slipon's because you still utilize the balance tube between cylinders. You don't lose anything on the low end like you do with true duals. Take your first pipe off>>if it's low miles you should be able to wiggle it off. Then use gloves or like I do>>slip a rag over your hand and into the muffler itself>>slide it on. Leave all bolts loose until you get the end of the pipe where you want it. Then do the other>>get them even>>then tighten up. The rag eliminates fingerprints.
