After a month of bad weather and trying to get everything rounded up, I finally got my inner painted and put back together. My painter went with PPG paint as recommended at the dealer. Matches real good, and am very happy with the gauges. A job that was a little challenging, but with great rewards. Now I just have to wait for some good weather in Indiana. I also have an IDS (thanks to Santa) to install. After the fairing that should be a piece of cake. To all on the Forum, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Hope the pictures come through, my first time at trying this.
Very nice, nice paint job and color. I just finished mine. Only trouble I had was figuring out the routing of the clutch cable, I forgot how it was routed and it was hitting the rubber ring cushionthats stops the steering from turning. I didn't remove the gas tank, though.
Jsans, I had to take the tank off because I had some light scratches that were buffed out. Also had the back of the mirrors painted, and the mid-frame air deflectors.
Congrats on the paint and gauges. When I did mine with a gauge swap I felt like I had a new bike when riding since it was soooo different from the stock black gauges and plastic finish inner fairing.
Good idea having the back of the mirrors painted to match. I did away with the fairing mirrors and installed handlebar mirrors, but I didn't have a painter since I bought my inner fairing pre-painted from the facory.
