Default Fwd Controls?

I remember a couple threads from the past about forward controls. I know Accutronix and Jaybake make them now for the baggers and I remember someone using Deuce forward controls with I believe little modification. Anyone here switch to any of these and if so, pros/cons? I figure while the bike is laid up for the winter I may as well gain some stretching room and add this to my list of projects while the snow is flying. My legs feel too scrunched up on the floorboards and I find myself riding on the highway pegs and bringing my feet back to shift and brake and then back up on the pegs.

Thanks, I'll try and check them out. I think it's all in the inseam, I don't think I'll have any problem reaching the controls, I have a 34" inseam. I had them on my old pan and Wide Glide 20 some years ago and loved them. After quite a few knee surgeries, my legs just like to be stretched out for comfort.

Have been considering these as well for my '07 Standard . Accutronix said they have 2 different part numbers, one for average sized riders and another model for taller riders, as well as several different styles to choose from. Jaybrake's can be found on Ebay new for $439. a set , the Accutronix are somewhat more expensive . Both have websites and the Accutronix has a picture of a bagger with their F/C's installed . Myself, just kickin' this around right now, but would like to also hear from anyone using either brand on a newer FLH [sm=feedback.gif]

JefFLH... be sure to ride a bike with fwd controls before you make the effort. I have an FLHR and FLHS.... the FLHS was for "Sport" with fwd controls like aFX. They are both great bikes, but if I am doing distance tours, floor boards get the first call.....

Good Luck

Good call HogBack, We recently installed a set of forward controls (Accutronix) on a Road King, nice installation, but the guy had us take them off 2 weeks later, he hated them, he said the same thing about the boards. They looked really cool, and it some what changed the look of his bike, but they weren't much on comfort.

I was also looking for more room and the forward controls look good. I just added 3/4' spacers from harley goodies, and wild bill's brackets that move the floorboard 2' forward. I already had the extended shifter, and brake pedal. Not sure how this compares to the forward controls but you can stretch out more and keep the boards.

Thanks for the input. Just what I was looking for, input from someone using them.I had some of the same fears about not being practical once they were installed. I would hate to make a mistake looking at the prices of these things. Where would I find info in Wild Bill's brackets? Hopefully someone else will chime in with their experiences. I did a search and a member named michael101 was the one who did the Softail conversion, maybe I'll shoot him a PM and see if he's still around. That may be a more feasable alternative to at least check it out and see how I like them.

I put forward controls (Accutronix) on my 00 Standard and loved them. Without changing the seat I gained about 5 or 6" of leg room. I liked them so much I kept them when I want to an 07 SG. The SG seat is much different than the Standard so I have not had to use them. If you think you want to go to forwards I can make you a deal. Only thing I found was on 700 mile days I sometimes got a cramp in my calf because of the stretch. but then again I only have a 30" inseam.
