Yes, they look badass. I have a RKC and would like to install some 16"s. It looks good on Sucio's ride too. I'm sure it would affect the handling, but like PapaTravis said, just takes a while to get used to. I'm concerned about the laws governing the height of the bars. Does this affect anyone's decision to go with the apesor does it not matter?
Before I got my apes, I actually checked the laws in my state, and any state that I thought I might ride through. With the minor exception of Sturgis, I think I should be ok. Even with the 18" apes I have, my hands still sit at shoulder height, which makes me legal just about everywhere in my neighborhood... sort of speak.

Apes are not for Harley Touring Bikes [:-]

finally found some people with apes on a road king! i just purchased my 02 FLHR and threw some heritage bars on it, but i've been longing to get apes. i was going along the lines of a 13" rise with 36" tip to tip and a 10" pullback... i'm only 5'4" so any taller and i'd be uncomfortable. my question is, how long do i need to extend my cables? seeing as how my bars now are 8.5" rise but only 31" tip to tip with a 6 1/4" pullback, the stock cable work and i think i can even swing 10" minis... but any taller and i'm gonna need to extend. suggestions on how much extra i'm gonna need? 4"? 6"? thanks ya'll
Seriously... I have 12.5 apes on my King. Here is what I had to do:
Switch Wires 12 inches
Throttle/Idle +6
Clutch +8
Lower Brake Stock
Uper Brake 28 inches

However, I would suggest you buy the bars and measure.

Do you have pics of the pull backs with the little bit higher rise? They don't seem to make those for the 08s yet.

Can someone help; I bought the 16" apes for my FLHR but I am confused about the length needed for the throttle and idle wires? What size clutch and dual brake lines will I need[sm=dontgetit.gif]? Thank for all responces.

This is where I went to get that question answered.

How's the handling with them? Got some mini apes and it took some time to get used to how the bike responded to them - especially in tight places.
They're more comfortable so I think I'm handling better. As long as you can reach in a full turn, you're OK.

I'm not quiet as brave as some of you all are with the 16-18"s apes. But over the winter I do plan on going to the 10 or 12" apes. Can't wait.
Trust me in saying that if you ever plan to go with 16" apes, you are best off to do it from the beginning.
Yeah if you can find one with apes and get the feel. No sense in doing it twice, especially the internal wiring.
