Ok, I picked up a wrecked 05 RG from my Bro-in-laws dad. He is ok but the bike was totaled. I agreed to buy the bike for $5. I wanted it for the TC with an Edelbrock 95 inch kit and baker 6 speed plus a bunch of other goodies. I was interested in upgrading my 03 RG. The shop that picked up the bike after the accident stripped most of the parts off the bike and said the frame was bent. I picked it up, along with all the parts to the bike, looked over everything and couldnt find any damage to the frame anywhere. The crash bar was barely scuffed. Of course the fairings and bags were toast. I took it to the collision shop at my local HD dealership and they confimed my suspicions. No damage to frame. I have reassembled the bike and now Im down to one last thing. They removed the bolts from the front and top stabelizer links. Both are off by about 1/2 inch. Do I just push the motor over to get the bolts in? If so how? I dont want to worry about alignment issues if I loosen them up to put them on.

There was a thread on here in the last few days that covered just about everything you want to know.

I think the consensus was to move the motor over to keep the proper alignment. but you might want to confirm that.

Pushin' the motor over is about the only way you'll get the links to line up, but that doesn't mean the alignment will be correct. Buy the shop manual, read the sections about alignment, & do the work. It's not complicated, & you can fabricate alignment tools pretty cheap. You'll be amazed at how much a couple of turns on those heim links will affect alignment.
