It's minus 14 celcious outside (6f). It's December 29th. 4 days after Christmas. 4 feet of snow on the ground. Can't ride until April or maybe May. Sportster all tucked away for winter. And what do I do. End up driving an hour and a half to a completely out of the way dealership, just to see what I might see, something to do, I'm bored, a way to kill an afternoon, no real reason for venturing there, just ended up there. Ended up leaving with an 08 white gold pearl Ultra glide. No problem they say, we'll store the bike for you, put on all the "extra's" you bought, until riding season is here. I mean, put yourself in my shoes, how can you possibly say no to that? I come home and tell the wife of this freak thing that happened to me, fully expecting to be divorced or sleeping in the shed with the sportser, hell no, she looks at me and exclaims, "what? You mean I get to finally ride the Sportster full time for real, no more sharing?" Are the planets aligned in some freak nature sort of way or something? So folks, be prepared, my Harley knowledge is limited to that of a Sportster. I will be asking all sorts of dumb questions with regards to the Ultra. Please be patient, thanks in advance>
RE: Why do we do what we do when we do what we do?
Damn dude, that's sweet. I can just see it now at my house. "Honey I'm home, guess what I just purchased" lay it out like you said...well I wouldn't have to worry about saving up for that vasectomy! The boys would be sliced off and in the dogs bowl before I could say "Whoa there, let's be reasonable."
Anyway, congrats! You're gonna love it. The hardest part is going to be waiting for all that snow to melt.
RE: Why do we do what we do when we do what we do?
You didn't get snow tires, heated seat and grips on that thing? At least then you could have taken it round the parking lot. [sm=yeahsmile.gif]
My wife rode behind me once or twice and decided she wanted her own. That was a Virago 250. Then she went to a Kaw 800 Vulcan. Now she rides a Heritage Softail Classic. The last time she rode behind me was to get that bike. It's actually a lot more fun having her ride along instead of ride along(?)
RE: Why do we do what we do when we do what we do?
I have just the opposite situation as you. I already have my '08 Ultra which is great for those 500 mile day trips, but, I need something to run to the store, run to town, just bump around here locally. My Hayabusa is fine if I want to do it at 140 mph, but just to bump, well, I think I need a sportster. I have been looking at a left over '07 sportster (dealer has 2 of em), and I got a card in the mail today from him to stop in, no reasonable offers will be refused on remaining '07 bikes. Sooo, I have no wife to bitch at me for getting a sporty, but, how many motorcycles does one man really need? He is open till Noon on MOnday???!!!!!! Dam, I am used to paying MSRP!!!!
RE: Why do we do what we do when we do what we do?
HUH??? O well congrads on the new ride I think????? And if you did pull the trigger it is just beginning...Now the fun begins and the money goes.... I think Ha Ha and a big [grin]...
