The one I use is 42-24-38 also handy when you get where you are going
I use the same one very comfortable, voice activated adjustment, and easy to install and remove. LOL

You might also want to take a look at the Mustang rider backrest. It works with the stock HD seat as well as the Mustang seats. I really like its adjustability and it's a little less expensive than the HD adjustable backrest. Here are acouple ofpics on my '08 Road Glide with stock seat:

I agree with Pastor John. I tried the HD adjustable & didn't like it because it hit me too high in the back (I'm 5'-10")& therefore was uncomfortable after only a few min. The Mustang pivots where the pad meets the mounting shaft, plus the shaft adjusts up, down, and fore/aft. The HDpad doesn't pivot. Finally, if you don't like the Mustang, my understanding is they will take it back if you buy it from the maker & return it within 10 days.

Due to a misunderstanding with a 17-4 hand horse a couple of years ago (he wanted me off, I wanted to stay on, that's a long way down, and Mercer County clay is hard) I wound up with a compression fracture in the middle of my back. It starts to bother me at around the 100 mile mark. So to do any distance riding, I am thinking about getting a backrest for my Ultra. My question is, I sit all the way back on my seat (factory) With the installation of a rider backrest, would I have to sit farther up? And do they really work for relieving the strain on your back? I have never ridden with one, as I always figured they were spine snappers if you get rear ended, but looks like if I want to distance ride, which I do, I may have to install one.
I put the standard backrest on mine and ended up hating it for pushing me so far forward (and I'm only 6' tall). I put some heat to it and bent the bars to allow me to sit back and relax, now it never comes off. Oh, and 17-4 is actually 18 hands. That's a tall *** horse!

I installed the non-adjustable Harley rest and hated it. I took it back to the dealer and they said sorry but I should have paid the extra $90.00 for the adjustable one. They wouldn't give me my money back because I rode with it for a week.

I put it back on the bike and kept adding washers until the angle was right. It didn't seem to weaken the rest at all.

I'm 6'4" and love the backrest when my feet are on the hiway pegs as I can straighten my arms out, lean back and feel very comfortable.

Get a backrest - you won't be sorry and it'll extend your riding day

Yeah, it's a huge horse. Owned by a buddy of mine, he's the one who told me 17-4. It's part Thoroughbred and part Percheron(sp).
Looks like everyone pretty much likes the rests with a little tweaking. Looks like I'll be adding one on this winter.

I'm 6'5" and ride with one. Have a bad lower back from an injury a long time ago, and the rest seems to help

Duz seem to make me feel like I sit forward more, but got used to it and have no problems riding with it. Actually feels weird now without it

[/quote

Got the fixed model. I am 6'-3", the rest makes yoiu feel a little forward but like stated, makes you hold good posture and is worth the high price for the HD model. Feels awkward riding without it now! Wife is tall and may I say slightly heavier than me and she likes riding without the backrest. Get one, you will love it!
