Would have to agree it was probably just one of the V-rod conversions that looks like a Road Glide. If he saw it well enough to say the engine was made by the same company as the V-rod's then thats probably what he was looking at.
Maybe I didn't say it right, he works for HD and it is not a converted vrod. They will be doing more testing in the Southwest in the spring. Keep your eyes open and your camera ready just in case. If not we'll have to wait till 2010.
My sales rep told me it will be mid season (fall-winter) in 2009. Its a 2400cc motor (in the baggers) and 2000cc in the non-baggers. Derived of Vrod technology, but not simply a reworked V-rod motor.
He claims to have seen prototype spy photos and renderings. So far, he's been spot on with all "insider" tips hes giving me over the last 5 years. The one exception being the 96" stroker motor. He thought they were just going to do the 95" kit as standard equip.
I want one (of the real 'Glides with the water cooled, not that hideous V-Rod conversion monstrosity). The good news is that since they'll only sell 3 or 4 of them because of all the old-schoolers' chest thumping about "water cooled engines over my dead body", they'll have to drop the price enough that I won't take a bath trading in my air cooled '08. Then all the old schoolers will go buy the Stratoliner from Star/Yamaha and their prices will go thru' the roof, too.

Im second in line (behind him) if it happens.
Would not suprise me if it was true... I think HD is running out of options for EPA compliance usingthe current platform.
Curious as to what foreign company builds the V-rod engine. I think Prosche aided in design but something tells me the engines are made in a moco plant in the US.
