Just got my SG back from the dealer after adding SE slipons, Stage I breather and Stage II download. Although the bike sounds great and has more pep I'm experiencing a lot more shake when at idle. I notice more vibration than before the changes. My fairing, windshield and handlebars now shake a lot more than before. Most annoying is the face shield on my helmet. It actually makes my teeth vibrate. lol! I wear the 3/4 helmet with shield during the winter months. It's cold in NJ.
I would like to know if this characteristic is normal when making these changes or do you think something may be wrong. I will say that the bike is running great once under way but uncomfortable when at idle. What do you think?
Mack, do you know what the download difference is and why it will cause more shake? My dealer says that they recieved a memo telling them to use the stage II download instead of the stage I. They say they get better results.

You should have gotten a stage 1 download with a stage 1 set-up. stage 2 is for a 95 inch motor. wont hurt anything but will shake as it does.
Also you might want to check the clearance on the mounts where the muffler meets the saddlebag support. If it is not centered it can touch the bracket and cause a vibration.
I cannot say what the difference is but when i worked at harley they were different.Maybe thats not the case anymore. I left over a year ago. It just does not make sense to have two downloads for the same thing. I would look into it Just sounds a bit fishy to me. Only way to tell is with a dyno or scanalyzer or digital tech. Talk to the harley service guys.
If you went from the stock map in the ecm to a stage two, that would change the parameters in the ecm with more fuel and a different ignition curve. These changes would make a difference in the idle and power of the bike. The reason why the dealer installed the stage 2 in your bike is probably because the stage 1 is still very lean in itself. Is it a wise thing to do with stock cams remains to be seen.
I still wouldn't rule out that new motor mount. You should be able to insert a floppy disc between the mount and the piece bolted to the motor.
There is no space anywhere associated with the mount. Everything seems to be bolted up tight.
Was riding today, the speedo and tach were shaking so much at idle I couldn't read them clearly.
I'm really trying to find out if anyone else has experienced this shake after changing pipes ect.
thinking about starting another thread.

Experiencing increased vibration after adding different exhaust and intake is common. You now have more HP and a lean MOCO download doesn't help. You'll need a closer tune that can only be achieved with a SERT, PC or DFO. The original dynamics are now different and compensation needs to be made.
