Rear Grab Bar Removal ?
Many aftermarket fender are covers.
Those that are not, are made for "show". How often do you see a "show bike" canyon carving? Not very. If you don;t care about handling and are after a look.... GO FOR IT. I did. I learned. I will not do it again.
I do not dispute that it looks better removed. That is why I want to the trouble and expense of powedercoating the one on my bike. I DON'T like the look, so I made an effort to make it less obtrusive.
THAT IS ALL from me.
NowI just gotta paint that dangseat tab and bolt. Had managed to not think about that annoying shiny piece all morning, then I went and read this topic and looked at the pic of the back of my bike. Damnit I wanted to leave the garage today too.I don't like this topic anymore.

The frame is completely boxed in. The Grab rail does not tie the frame together....I have a hard time understanding how a chrome rail attached to the very end of a completely boxed-in frame has any effect on handling.
That is unless your saddle bags and fender were moving back and forth over the swing arm in a loose manner. I can total understand that.
Not all aftermarket fenders are covers and not all bikes with aftermarket fenders are show bikes. So that said, I run deals gap all the time in this configuration and never feel anything move around and handling is very important to me... I can feel everythingas Icome from a sport bike back ground.
Thanks for the input Philm... Althoughwe have not come to the same conclusions, I appreciate it. It's too bad you're done with the subject because I think we were on to something worth talking about and investigating.

Texas Steve showed this link to me.
As I said in the other thread yeaterday, the rear end felt mushy & I just got used to it & didn;t even notice it so much, until I put it back on. It's like removingone side of a square... what's left is not as strong as it once was.

I'm not doubting your conlusion at all.Thankyou &I appreciate you input...Hey, that's why I asked.
I can always give it a try, and see how it feels. then put a new bar back on if I don't like it. How much was the new grab bar, btw. <G>
Thanks,
Larry
Not a big fan of the grab bar either. One of the first things I took off my RK. Haven't had any problems yet, but then again my front wheel stays a little lower than Phil's. Got the all in one taillight/brake light/turn signal combo from cycle visons and it has worked great for me.
