Question on the HD or any other HID light. Say the HD bulb is 500.00 roughly. What happens when the bulb burns out, or does it, and what happens if a rock hits it and breaks the lense? Is it another 500.00 in either case?

Back to the orignal thread idea, I have the HD HID light in my bike and I will always have a HID light from now on. You will not be disapointed with the light output. I do wish I had found http://motorcyclemetal.com/gpage7.htmlbefore getting the HD version, it looks at least as good for less$.

One of the guys in my HOG has the HID.. rode with him on back roads one night.. came home and upgraded mine - my night vision's not so good, so every little bit helps.

Fastharley.. can I switch the passing lamps over to 6000k bulbs? not that they'd give me more light.. it'd just get rid of the yellow light from the existing ones.

I was at my dealer last week and I asked the parts guy how much a new bulb for the HID was(thought I might want to have a spare on hand). He said that he didnt know because they have never had to replace one yet and that he would have to do a breakdown of the the kit to come up with a part number. So if your lens or bulb are taken out I would guess that whileit would be expensive, it would not be the same price as a newkit.

As per request, what socket do you use and I will get an answer for you from my manufacturer.

Let me work on something for you that we are doing with underwater lighting. It involves LED's but very special ones we are using. There is no faster changing field than LED. It will be soon so e-Mail me & I'll put you on my list. It involves using very bright and low power (relatively - 0ne Watt) LED's that can also modulate with a adjuster & photocell (day on/night off modulation). The light wave for this can be one of several colors. Very White for you. If you look directly in the bulb you will see spots for a long time. Underwater, blue (long wavelength) is the best for seeing.

Just an update... I have been waiting two months for my lights from Daniel Stern. Posted here yesterday afternoon about 1:30 about the lack of product delivery. Less than 12 hours later I get a tracking number from Daniel for my shipment. Coincidence? Regardless this is an example of very poor customer support. I don't care how good the lights are, this is inexcusable.

Ok...done trapping Bears.....

The HID's are well worth it. The funny part is it took almost a week and a day longer for FastHarley to get my cheque than it took to get the lights!!

If you follow FastHarleys link to my Photo Bucket site...I've done a full pictorial and some of the small things you'll have to do. I'll get some out side shots soon. Too much sand to ride at night so far.

If you guys have some questions, I'm more than happy to help you out.

I'm not sure of the others, but on the RG, the bulb is in it's seperate housings. On top of that, there is a clear shield that snaps into the fairing it's self. Double protection.

Remember with the kit..it includes the Ballast, igniter, and a bulb. If you lost the bulb for any reason, you would only have to replace it and not the ballast and igniter.
