I tried plugging it in, but the connector doesn't fit my radio. The hole in the radio has a small annular ring about half way in. Their connector won't go past the ring. The stock radio connector has two metal strips that flex. They compress when they go past the annular ring, and then expand back out to keep the connector from working it's way out of the hole.
Anyone else run into this? I just sent an e-mail to the place I got it from which is ECS Hylites. I'll let you know what they say about it.
I like the ideas about the antennas, but I was thinking of getting the shorter ones vice ones that can't be seen. Guess I expect to see antennas sticking in the air when you speak of a bagger.
Terry,
I am a Deputy Sheriff in Va Beach and have been for about 3 years. before that I was a Marine for 30 years....Just can't get away for public service.......Stay safe..
Ijust installed one under my batwing fairing. It seems to work great. Still Rerceive weather band. Alittle more sensitive on the radio. But it still works great. I have an 06 ultra and made the tour pack a quick release. To keep it simple i do not have to relocate the antenna. The web page is http:www.ecshylites.com/page/page/603561.htm. ryan
I don't understand how it fit your 06 Ultra. The connector won't fit my radio. I talked to the guy at ECS he couldn't understand it either. He says he hasn't come across this. It must be a tolerance thing. Either the hole for the connector in my radio is too small or the connector is too big. (or a combination of the two). Either way I'm gonna return it.
Hey, guys. I went out and purchased a king tour pack from Harley, for my Street Glide, the pack came from the factory with the antenna holes cut out. The thing is that I plan on running a hidden antenna or a short whip antenna instead of mounting an antenna on the pack.
Now What do I do about the holes? I've asked the Harley Parts dept. but they have no clues. Any Suggestions?
I had the Tune Trapper installed on my 2009 Street Glide and it's performance was fair. I went with the J&M Flexpower powered tri-band antenna and the performance was much better.
thats is one of the things that has stopped me from getting the king tour pack for my street glide... I would guess you would have to have the antenna holes bondoed or filled and repainted... love the look of the king tour pack, but hate that I will have to do more more to make it look the way I want.. unless you throw a fake antenna on there just to take up that spot on the pack.
