RE: Full face helmet users ...
I use the Shoei RF-1000 in matte black finish.
Its an extremely comfortable helmet (in my opinion), and the vents work well.
It also has some extras, such as a mesh net that covers the bottom of your jaw, which keeps small items such as gravel or june bugs etc. from ricocheting up off the bike and smacking youunderneath yourneck or chin. (Uh, yes, it works...)
I've got a KBC and a Zox, the KBC is very quiet and I find the Zox to be more comfortable. Check out extremesupply.com, they've got pretty good pricing.
ditto---very good helmet -- sold my HD helmet cause I knew I would not use after wore the Nolan. Theyrun a little small-- try it on at a store prior to online purchase
Arai and Shoei are highly regarded (and priced accordingly). There are others, of course (Schuberth, Scorpion, etc). They all fit different shaped heads, and most have different models to fit different shaped heads. A FF is, IMO, not a great candidate for a money saving online buy, especially if it's your first. You need to go to a shop, one with a good selection of FF's and a knowledgeable staff that knows how helmets should fit) and try on a bunch. If one feels good, wear it in the shop for at least 15 minutes. Sometimes a helmet that feels great at first will develop a hot spot that you wouldn't notice if you just tried it on, it felt good, and you took it off and bought it. That helmet will be useless to you and you'll be out a lot of $$$! If it fits right it will feel snugger than you think it should at first, but with some time the pads will compress and mold to your face.
Going FF was pretty weird at first, but after using it on one long trip I was sold. I felt way fresher at the end of the day, if it started raining you close the shield and keep going, was great when it got cold, etc. FWIW mine is a Shoei RF1000 as well. I put a Pinlock visor shield in it and can not make it fog up any more. Really nice helmet...for MY head. YMMV.
