Default First Bike

As the name says, I'm a rookie rider.
Took the safety course in November, got my "M" license a week later and have since rented 3 times.
First was a RK for a day (200 miles), second was an EG for 2 days (500 miles) where I took both teenage kids for rides (separately of course) and just this weekend another EG for 24 hours and another 200 miles, this time with my wife (who's very supportive)
I'm thinking of getting an Ultra Classic Electra Glide.
Any advice, other than have fun (thats pretty much guaranteed).
I'm planning on riding for weekend rides only (no daily commute rides)
Thanks in advance

Welcome Barry,

You picked a great forum to join. These guys will give you some good advice. Any of the baggers will be great for you. The Ultra or the Classic are really nice bikes. I also like the Roadglide and Streetglide, and don't forget about the Roadkings.

Let us know what you decide.

Terry

I'm a new member here also...You won't go wrong with the Ultra. I have a roadking custom and a Ultra and I love both of them...I mostly ride the roadking around town or on short trips...but the Ultra is my choice for the long haul....it doesn't get any better than setting the cruise control and cranking up the tunes and settling in for a long ride....[8D]

Youll like the Ultra but I recommend renting a Road Glide before making a choice.I sure like riding mine. I recently rode my friends Ultra and I liked it but being used to the RG the steering felt awkward and heavy.

Ultra is a great bike, as others have said you can't go wrong. Go with what you like. You at least got to test ride some. Some dealers do not give that option.

As said earlier - -that will change!

Now you'll be asking the wife if you can go on those errands for tampax and what nots!

Good choice on the ride- - advice? Make sure the wife is there when you pick it up - - let her choose some chrome options, so she will not only be supportive but a player as well - -
