Default Slow speed handling problem

I think I found part of my trouble with handling my Ultra at low speeds. I believe my handlebars are just two low, and I end up pushing down instead of out on the bars. Now for the question, how hard is to adjust the bars? I know you have to take the batwing off, but wonder if this is something I should tackle by myself(don't have a manual yet)..Looked in the tech section, didn't really see anything about adjusting handlebars..

I can't tell ya how to do this on an ultra... but on an RKC...

Well, Smokey Mountain HD wanted to charge me $80 for an hour's worth of work to change the handlebars position... thinking there must be a better way...Yesterday, I popped the cover off the handlebar cover on the RKC using a sharp knife. It is plastic underneath and just clips into 2 slots. Underneath, there are 2x 1/4" allen (I think they are 1/4" allen) bolts that you loosen a few turns and then move the handlebars to the position you want... and then tighten the bolts back down again. Re-clip the cover and you are done. I also found in the owner's manual how to loosen the hand controls clutch assemblies so that I could change their position as well. Since I rotated the handlebars, I needed to rotate the controls.

All in all, it was an easy 15 minutes with a couple of allen wrenches. Since I am on a rant as well as solution... I also discovered that the dealership (who specificallytold me that they put 15lbs in my rear shocks as they ALWAYS do,) only had 5 lbs when Iattached the pumpand no wonder the bike felt strange over bumps. I raised the pressure in the rear shocks to 20lbs and it behaves much more firmly when rounding cornersyet still very supple over bumps.

Just pull the ignition, the fairing cap and loosen the two screws as previously mentioned. No need for all the extra work just to move them up or down.

That's about it. Remove ignition and console. Bars can then be adjusted with the two lower clamp bolts......

A lot of slow speed control also comes with feathering the clutch and riding the rear brake. It does work. Check out the Ride Like a Pro dvd.

About a 15 or 20 minute job. You can do it.

Ok, thanks. I kinda figured I could do it, but wanted to make sure there wasn't any issues I should be aware of...

you may consider purchase of ride like a pro dvd.
check out the youtube sample:
slow speed control comes from using rear brake and slightly slipping clutch.
i took the course and it made a difference for me.
