Default Antenna Question

I know this has probably been discussed. But I was curious as to how good a Harley antenna will work cut down add put inside my fairing with the coax coiled up. I have the Hells Foundry set up with an amp. I've tried the Dakata Digital antenna and it doesn't work with the amp.

I had cut mine down and it worked fine, but then what I did was go to the local auto parts store and buy one of those $12 rubber universal mount antenna's and tuck it up onside the fiaring attached to the radio and it works just fine, I then took the mount off the back and just tucked the rest of the wire up undr the seat someplace, no need to pull it all out and remove it.

Heard of guys putting the "rubber duckie" type antennas inside the fairing. Personally I haven't tried it but do run a "tune trapper" that is not powered under the fairing. Got it off e-bay I think

Does the tune trapper have to have aux power run to it?
