Hey Blue,
I see you made the switch to the "big" bikes as well! Wow, you went all out and got the "SUPER" tourer. How do you like it compared to your deluxe? I am trying to get used to just rolling it around in the garage. I do miss my Deluxe for that reason. I've had mine for 5 days and still no riding. Hasn't stopped raining since I got it home! Have fun!

P.S. With allyour backrest support behind the pass. why would they need a grab strap? Never had one on theDeluxe and rode all over the NW with my wife on the back.....
Taking the seat strap off was the first thing I did to both of my bikes. I think it looks better with it off, and my wife never used it. Not having it on allows quick access to components under the seat. I do not want to have to go through the motion of taking off a saddlebag and mount everytime I want to change seats or access something under the seat.
I have a passenger alot and I dont have the strap. Leave it off, you can always put it back later, but I bet you dont miss it. I also have the adjustable back rest . Love it. and it isnt really hard to put on, just take your time. The hardest part for me was mounting the control for the adjustments. Getting that little bracket on was a PITA. But it is worth it. you will like the adjustable back rest.
Is an '08 that much different than an '07? As soon as I opened the lids to the bags it allowed me ampleroom to get in and remove that stupid seat strap.
For as often as that seat is off and on you'd think I'd break down and get something that I could just turn finger tight.
+1, I don't know why everybody wants to remove the bag to remove the strap..... Just open the left bag and remove the screw.....

in answer to your question, the 07is different than the08 , the 07 you didn't need to remove the saddle bag, it was really easy to remove, I threw away the strap on my 07, the 08 doesn't look right to me without the strap and feels sloppy with it not being there, I was going to trash it prior to pulling the seat from side to side with strap off....
I never had a grab strap on the Deluxe so I'm probably going to remove it. Even passengerizing I don't think I have ever used one myself. Does NOT look like it will hold me on [&:].

I figure if your gonna do it you might as well realllllly do it!
The ride and handling is like night and day. I'm in heaven. I thought the height and weight were going to be a problem but so far I have not had any issues with getting my feet on the ground. I too miss the leverage I had on the super low Deluxe though.
