Got a good offer to trade in my 2005 Electra on a 08,the 05 has been trouble free, are the 08's anygood?anyone have experiance with them? The salesman was telling me the 07's had some issues but that these were ok now.
I agree with Jim. The best bike I've ever owned, imho. Smooth as silk. The 96 engine, the six speed tranny, the Isolated Drive System (IDS), the bigger tank and Brembo braking system have been flawless thus far.
Only issue i have with my 08 is keeping that Vivid Black clean but it gets me out of the wifes wish list so i just keep cleaning (hiding in the garage) that thing and man does it ever shine. SWEET.
I got an 08 SG and it vibrates lik hell. I had to put a different front mount in to try to lessen the vibration. The Stealers say that it is all normal. I say F them and all there lies. If you have a problem and own a o8 SG try Lo5o1-2 Motor mount from Zannotti
I would say it all depends what their giving you for yours, and the finance rate.. You can buy an 08 for MSRP. So those are really the determining factors.. (Well besides the diff between the Electra and the SG)
My SG doesn't vibrate, shifts as smooth as silk, is wonderful in balance and a true pleasure to ride...!!
3 known problems... (1) the rear cylinder shutdown overheat thing... I haven't had that problem yet but have heard complaints.. I ordered a fan and probably will do an oil cooler, and get a oil temp gage to monitor the situation. (I hear 60 weight oil and slick 50 drops the temp 35%.)
(2) General new Harley problem.. no guts..[:'(] We all have our own ideas on how to fix that..
(3) Wobbles a bit at 80+ miles an hour.. (It's not a Road Glide)
