We're back from the NV,AZ,NM tour and found an appreciable difference in gas mileage when the temps were close to freezing. expected mileage returned at 50 degrees or above.
SG summer: 46-48 mpg
SG winter: 40 mpg last tank. Same basic trips, commute, store, barhops on weekends. Ialways figured it was the cold air = more fuel thing.
It's normal in those kind of low temps.
The engine temp sensor is telling the computer that
the engine isn't fully warmed up.
Plus the winter cold air is denser and the map sensor is telling the computer you are getting more air, so it adds more fuel.
so you are running a richer mix, kinda like leaving the choke part way on.
consequently the mileage suffers.
