I just got my 08 SG
I know it has the smaller shocks
But can I lower it some more
With out tearing out my tail light wires or tearing up a tire or fender
If so how (shock reloactor like Burly)
How much max. (1 inch should be ok but a little more would not hurt)
When all else fails - call PROGRESSIVE they'll let you know for sure...
I lowered my Road Glide with a 2 1\4" drop cam in the rear... Had to jack up my rear shocks way higher then the max recommended so not to bottom out (they held up) - But the road is like a Hardtail...

We just did Johnie G's 07 SG. He put our 11 1/2" Penske shocks and our 1" lowered X Factor, FL Cartridges. The results were as good as you can make the bike with the stock front forks outers & lowers (we change all the internals). He does not bottom out over RR tracks and whatever is reasonable with his wife. She is also content and is more enjoyable on a longer ride. You may contact him if you like. I do not have his HDF screen name but did provide you with his V-Tw*n name. If you search on Penske, he did a post about 1 or 2 months back. If more info is needed, you can PM me to forward your e-Mail address to him for reply & screen name.
Thanks for the help
I lowered my ultra 1" and had no issues then I went lower I thik it was about 2"-2 1/4"
At the same time I went 1" in the front and heavier oil in the front.
Front lowering did nothing at my feey but it made the bike look great
But the 2" rear cost me some wire issues in the fender unless I kept 45 # in the shocks wich was a bit hard
So I am looking for a compromise on the street glide
Wife has a RK Custom, didn't lower the back anymore (already 1" lower) but dropped the front an inch. She had her seat re-done also. She's 5' 2" and it's good now. Lowering the front makes a huge difference.
