I just installed Gerbings "peramanent dual temp controller" on my RK. The controller lets you regulate the heat in two zones. For me that's gloves and socks. The package was impressive from the moment I opened it. Lots of info on their other products, first class components and easy to install. Since I completed the install the temps have been between 50 and 75 so no real testing yet but I have used them a little and I like the way you can turn them down. Should reduce the load on the alternator too. Oh, ya. The harness plugs right into the HD Heated gloves.
I mounted the controls in my fairing. It's an OLD ultra fairing that I plan on using until it warms up. The controls ARE compatible with HD accessories, same plugs. The harness supplied with the socks uses the same short harness for the battery connection. TOO SIMPLE.
Gerbing does indeed make the Harley stuff. The gloves are a about $135 Gerbing and $170++ to have Harley embroidered on the cuffs. However, I bought the Harley dual thermostat for the same price as the Gerbing branded.
I am not sure, but I think Gerbing has a lifetime warranty on the electric wires/connections and Harley is only a one or two year warranty.
I love my Gerbings! I rode in 36 degree whether and my hands stayed warm! I would recomend them to anyone in a colder climate.
Just to add my few cents. When I ordered my Gerbing jacket, by the way is who makes the Harley heated gear. There is a difference; Gerbing's jackets are wired differently inside. Harleys allows you work the jacket and gloves independently. Gerbingâs work with pants, and jacket independently. Gerbing's has to be specially ordered to work the jacket and gloves. This takes a few weeks. I just didn't want to wait, and my dealer was running 20% off on all heated gear. Which was the same price as Gerbing's before the discounted. But the bottom line is I love. I broke my pinky finger years ago go, so when it's below 50 degrees it's just useless. Now I just crank up the heat in my gloves and I'm back in action.
