Default Lowering rear?

I'd like to get better footing so I'm thinking of shorter shocks for my 98 RKC, and maybe cutting my seat down a little, as opposed to a lowering kit. I think my stock air shocks are 13". Part # is 54565-97. I've seen 12" and 11" for sale . Here's my questions. Thanks, Shane

1. Is 2" lower too much, should I just go 1"?
2. Will fender hit?
3. Can I lower just the rear, I dont want to get involved with front forks?
4. Best to use air shocks?

I went to 11 1/2 progressive on my Ultra...
I never liked the air shocks from the first day I bought it..
The progressive are better adjusted when riding 2 up at least for me...
I ride 2 up most of the time and I really like them ...
Yes, you can lower just the reag with no adverse affects..

We have put 11 1/2" Penske shocks on many baggers that handle the road with no problems. They are the smoothest out there period. The bike bottoms out in 9" without tire growth (eye to eye and I measured them myself) if you take the shocks off and measure bolt to bolt.
