wow, can you spare a nickel????? that is an hour labor, people freak me out, including you. you buy a harley and say 90 bucks is too much for sert download???? wow, I don't get it. How much do you think you should pay. I know a guy on the corner that will do it for 5 bucks, you're also paying for peace o mond from a dealer dude. buy a metric
Why pay a dealer 90.00 for something that takes 5 min's to do... They cant do it any different than you can. So where is the piece of mind with that. Now there are things I would take to a dealer or indy.. But pay them 90.00 to click a mouse button 2 or 3 times No Thanks

First of all, $90 just to download a canned map is a rip off for peace of mind, after 1 would pay $450 plus, unless you can find a deal on ebay ($275). Second, even with the intial download it only takes 6-7 minutes.

Why buy a metric? What if you change pipes and an aircleaner still going to have to get a PC, because for the most part, there are execptions. You cannot DL like on a delphi unit that easily, or that cheap. Plus we are on a HD site thanks.

SERT is a nice system, but the dealer is double dippin. If it was a massaged canned map for $90 with a little dyno time or at least an afr reading at cruisig tps and rpm then I would say that is a deal.

Bottom line, if you can get on the internet, you can use and d/l a SERT map. Period. I think everyone here at least hooked up a telephone or cable line before and that is it. In addition, if you ever installed a program before, either disc or from the web, you can do SERT program and maybe a usb to serial driver.

THERE IS NO VOODOO IN THESE THINGS, I converted from being a Mikuni user to FI and loving it.

i'm sure you do, and that isn't the point. you are not here ragging on someone because he wants to do something instead of having the dealer do it.

different strokes for different folks, but in the end, we all want the same thing: to keep our knees in the breeze.

Bought a SERT on Ebay for $235. There seems to be a bunch for sale now.

You are exactlycorrect. I should also correct myself by saying that yes I also believe that 90 bucks is a lot for a CANNED map and 10 minuets of work. My statement was more directed towards the generalized response that I or anyone elsewould enjoy my bike more if I knewmore about it.Any man or woman ought to be able to come on this forum and ask for advise or help without being made to feel that if they are not doing the work theirself, that they are foolish or inadequate. Most on this forum I feel agree with this but then you always have a few that may very well be just enough to ruin someones experience on this forum and drive them away.

Like you stated above, different strokes for different folks.

Alright - I'm an old guy that's still new to FI - sorry
What do you guys mean "canned map"
If I get a SERT will there be a bunch of choices to pick from?
2008 FLHX, set of 06 SE pipes, and want to add the SE air cleaner - that's all I want to do
Will there be a "map" that a semi-idiot FI like me can load?
Will I be able to raise the rev limit to 6000?
$400 is a lot of money to basically have a bike sound a little better but I admit that is what is driving this decision
thanks
-Smokin
PS anyone need help rebuilding a Mikuni ....THAT I can do!!
